With their combined talents and experience, the M.E.G. team are well equipped to produce everything in-house, from initial concept illustrations and maquettes through to the finished creation. This approach to their work ensures stringent quality control and integrity for each of their creations. Their ability to produce cutting edge work is attributed to their innovative designs and utilisation of the latest developments in state of the art materials and technology. They can oversee projects from initial concepts and roughs, sculpting and fabrication, through to the filming of the effects or characters on set. The Inaugural Australian Society of Make-up Artists award for the feature films, Ned (2004), Cut (2000), The Matrix (1999). They have also won the ITHACA International Fantastic Film Festival Jury Award for best Special Effects for the feature film Redd Inc. (2012) as well as The Screamfest L.A award and British Horror Film Festival award for Best Horror Make-up for the feature film Needle (2010). For the short film Fuel (2004), they won Best Visual Effects at the St Kilda Film Festival.
M.E.G.'s state of the art 1,200 sq metre facility is fully equipped to meet the FX needs of any production. It is slick and stylish, designed to inspire creativity around every corner and imbues a clean and professional aesthetic.
Their departments include animatronic machine shop, 5 station make-up room, art and design department, foam latex and silicone room, production and editing rooms, spray painting rooms, mould-making and sculpting facilities, as well as a large display room.
The studio is set up to accommodate all the aspects of their craft under one roof. They are very much in touch with what is happening in the world market of the film and make-up FX industries. Thier expertise can create anything from a prosthetic make-up to full animatronic creatures with lip sync capabilities, to miniatures and model-making and anything in between.
